Top Tips For Taking A Holiday In The United Kingdom

If you are planning a trip to the United Kingdom, then here are my top tips for how to enjoy your time in this exceptional nation:

1. Go and watch some Premiership football. The United Kingdom is a football crazy nation and what better way to enjoy your time in this country then attempting to understand the national obsession? If you are in London then I would suggest that you get tickets for an Arsenal game. This is because the Gunners play a unique brand of passing, attacking football yet their tickets are still reasonably priced, unlike Chelsea or Tottenham Hotspur. If you are further north then I would suggest heading for Manchester to watch a match either at Old Trafford or at the Stadium of Manchester. At the former ground you can watch Sir Alex Ferguson’s charges as they continue to attempt to defend their Premier League crown, while at the latter ground you can watch City where Roberto Mancini is attempting to wrestle it from them.

2. Visit London. You could start your day with brunch by the river, perhaps on the South Bank where you will find a delicious range of options. Whatever your budget, you’ll find a bistro cafĂ© or restaurant suitable. You could also catch a boat from here down the river to Greenwich, or in the opposite direction past the Houses of Parliament and the London Eye. You could also take in a lunchtime matinee at the National Theatre, or head into the city centre for a spot of shopping in Covent Garden. Leicester Square is definitely worth a visit if only for the street performers, while if you fancy a stroll through some greenery then head for one of the royal parks in the centre of the city such as Green Park or St James’ Park.

3. If you are a fan of golf, then have a look online at the great deals that you can get on UK golf holidays. There are world class courses and ranges dotted all over the nation, many of which wind through exceptional countryside, so you can enjoy the beautiful scenery while working on your handicap.

4. If you have kids with you, I would suggest that you head for one of the United Kingdom’s many theme parks. I would personally recommend Thorpe Park as the roller coasters are fantastic and you can also get deals on a Thorpe Park hotel by booking online and in advance. By staying within the grounds of the theme park you will be in easy walking distance of the major attractions while also being able to be sure about your children’s safety.
